ISLAMABAD, Jun 2 (APP): Commerce Minister Khurram Distgir Khan said Thursday urged the World Trade Organization (WTO) to promote e-commerce in this era of information technology.

According to Press statement issued by Commerce Ministry here Thursday, the minister was addressing the annual meeting of WTO in Paris.

He was of the view that the developing countries must be
guided to promote e-commerce and should also be provided technical guidance to make laws in this regard.

The minister during the meeting presented his country’s stance over agriculture and e-commerce.

He said that agriculture was the backbone of country’s
economy, so the government was keenly looking on developments and negotiations taking place at world forums regarding access of agriculture produce to markets.

He said these developments have direct impact on country’s
agriculture economy and its 200 million people, so Pakistan remains vigilant to these activities.
