ISLAMABAD, Aug 1 (APP): Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani Monday praised Iran’s balanced position on regional issues, saying that the country was a role model for developing countries.

Talking to IRNA, he said Iran had always taken balanced positions on regional issues.

“It’s been a position that has been substantiated on the principles of equity, principles of justice and I think on a good number of issues, Iran is a role model for developing countries,” he said.

The Senate Chairman said Iran, being a very important country in the region, would play a positive role in realization of the Asia dreams as it had a very pivotal role to play in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA).

Describing Pakistan and Iran ties as deep and brotherly,
he said, “Iran and Pakistan have historical and traditional ties and I am sure that the recent visit by Pakistan’s Adviser on Aational  Security Nasser Khan Janjua to Tehran has been a very fruitful  visit and will be able to further cement already existing brotherly relations.’

Rabbani said that Pakistan-Iran friendship group had been established in Pakistan Senate.

He hoped that a similar group could be established in Iran’s new parliament so that the two friendship groups could help further improve parliamentary and bilateral ties.
