Inter-Regional Hockey Championship in City from Nov 14: Saeed

PESHAWAR, Oct 25 (APP): Vice President Pakistan Hockey Federation and former Inspector General of Police Muhammad Saeed Khan Tuesday said that the Inter-Regional Hockey Championship will be commencing from November 14 here at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium wherein teams from seven regions of the province would vie for the top honor.
Addressing a press conference here at Media Center of the Qayyum
Sports Complex Muhammad Saeed Khan, who is also Chairman of the KP Hockey Association, disclosed that all arrangement for the smooth conduct of the Championship would be made well in time.
He said before the Inter-Regional Hockey Championship, the Inter-Club
Regional Hockey Championship in Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat, Mardan, Swat, Hazara and Peshawar will be organized from November 3, 2016 and would continue up till November 11.
Flanked by Secretary General KP Hockey Association Syed Zahir Shah,
Muhammad Saeed Khan said that after the completion of the Inter-Club at Regional level top two clubs would take part in the Inter-Regional Club Hockey Championship.
He said out of the Inter-Regional Hockey Championship first three teams would represent the province in All-Pakistan Inter-Club Hockey Championship to be organized under the aegis of Pakistan Hockey Federation.
Muhammad Saeed Khan said that the aim and objective of holding the
hockey at club level is to revive old patron by giving ample opportunity to the players from the club to come up at national and international levels.
He said the Inter-Club Regional Hockey Championship will be organized in all regional headquarters and the KP Hockey Association and Pakistan Hockey Federation would thoroughly monitor the new format which was first introduced in way back 1996. He said revival of hockey at club level would certainly widen up the pool of the selection at the national level.
He said now it up to the Pakistan Hockey Federation to keep a vigilant
eye so that the format could be made successful. He also lauded President PHF Brig. (Retd) Khalid Sajjad Kokkar for taking initiative in reviving club hockey.
