LAHORE, Aug 08 (APP)- Independence day sports events continued here on Monday under the aegis of City District Government to celebrate the independence day in a befitting manner.
Taekwondo event was held at Toqueer Islamia Girls school and college at Amersudu Fereozepur road Lahore.
Organizing Secretory Mian Pervez Iqbal told that Independence day Taekwondo event concluded with support from city district government Lahore. DCO Lahore Captain ® Usman younis is taking keen interest in the successful holding of independence day competitions.
As many as 280 boys and girls belonging to 23 clubs participated in the competition and the bouts were held in 15 weight categories in -15 Kg, -20 Kg, -25 Kg, -30 Kg, -35 Kg, -40 Kg, -45 Kg, -50 Kg, -55 Kg, -60 Kg, -65 Kg, -70 Kg, -75 Kg and -80 Kg. Taekwondo club grabbed the first position while Leebum club secured the second place and Pak warriors stood third.
In boys event Mohammad Usman Bhatti was declared the best player and in girls event Eman Fatima got the similar distinction.
Member National Assembly Waheed Alam was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony and distributed prizes among the winners.
Divisional Sports Officer Nadeem Qasier. District sports officer Tanveer Abass, Kashif Haider, Rehan Roshan, Rafi Zaman and Shahzad Ashgar were also present on the occasion.
An Exhibition T20 cricket match was played to celebrate Independence day at Lahore Gymkhana Bagh e Jinnah ground and Qilla Lachman Singh beat Govt Model town high school Lahore by 66 runs. Qilla Lachman team after winning the toss scored 156 runs in allotted 20 overs.
Amir top scored with 90 runs as opener Zaid Alam made solid 76 runs. Chasing 157 Model town high school were all out on 90 in 18.3 overs.
Zaid Alam took 4 wickets and got man of the match for his all-round performance.
Director Punjab sports board Hafeez Bhatti was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed medals among the players.
