ISLAMABAD Aug 31 (APP): Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader Talal Chaudhry on Wednesday said the government will make public the proceedings of Parliamentary Committee on Panama papers to apprise masses of the reality.
“We shall make the proceedings public within a day or two so the people can know as to who was non serious in framing accountability law for curbing corruption,” he said in a private news channel program.
He said the opposition had made up a mind not to reach a
conclusion on Panama paper issue so they approached other forums like Election Commission and Supreme Court.
The PML N MNA said there were some illogical points in the
PTI petition filed in the Supreme Court that is why the court
returned their petition describing it as ‘frivolous.’
He said the opposition has also submitted a bill with the
Parliament and the amendments proposed by them at Panama papers committee level have also been included in the bill. “Their proposals at committee were of the personalized nature but the government had proposed professional amendments. Now, they have submitted the bill and the matter will become clear.”
Commenting on a legal notice served to an actor Hamza Ali
Abbasi on objectionable comments, Talal Chaudhry said, it was unethical to describe any body as an animal. “It is simply a notice and the court will decide this matter.”
He said freedom of expression does not mean to violate
ethics and principles of honor and dignity.
The MNA said, the bill on cyber crimes was unanimously
passed at the Parliamentary Committee. This committee also had representation of opposition members and none of them had opposed this bill.
Moreover, he said, the Senate had proposed number of
amendments in the bill therefore there is no reason to claim that it was against freedom of expression.
