Govt taking measures to release prisoners of petty crimes: minister

FAISALABAD, Nov 15 (APP): Federal Minister for Human Rights
Senator Kamran Michael on Tuesday said the government was taking
measures to release prisoners involved in petty cases across
the country.
He was said this while talking to the media after visiting the Central Jail here on Tuesday.
District and Sessions Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi, Director
General Human Rights Department Muhammad Arshad and other
were also present while orders to release 63 prisoners involved
in petty cases were issued.
The minister said he would visit jails in all provinces to release prisoners confined in jails in petty crimes.
He said prisoners who had completed their imprisonment but they were still in jails due to non-payment of fine. They would also get released after payment of fine by the Ministry of Human Rights.
He said the aim of this initiative was to decrease load of prisoners in jails.
The minister said training courses were being arranged in jails to impart technical skills to prisoners to make them productive citizens.
