HAVELIAN, Dec 7 (APP): The ill-fated PK-661 flight of Pakistan International Airlines with 49 passengers, including five crew members, crashed at the bottom of a hill near Gagga Maira village of Union Council Bandi Attai Khan of Abbottabad district at about 4.30 pm on Wednesday, eye-witnesses said.
According to locals, fire erupted as a result of debris of the crashed plane, which engulfed forest trees and bushes in over one kilometer area.
Local journalist Khaksar Nisar told APP that he was among the few persons, who reached the site after sunset. The plane debris were scattered over a large area, where trees and bushes had also caught fire.
He said due to hilly terrain it was difficult for rescue workers and ambulances to reach the crash site. There was no road in the area and the rescuers had to walk more than two kilometers on steep and rough terrains, he added.
