Farmers to get fertilizer bag at Rs 1400


ISLAMABAD, Jun 3 (APP): Minister for Finance Muhammad Senator Ishaq Dar on Friday said that the farmers would get fertilizer bag at Rs 1400 from July 1.
In his budget speech, he said that fertilizer is a major input cost in the agriculture sector. In the past few months, through the provision of gas to fertilizer industry, the government has ensured a further decrease of Rs. 50 per bag.
“From July 1, the government has decided that the price of urea will be further reduced to Rs 1400 per bag” he added.
Ishaq Dar said federal and provincial governments will pay the cost of the subsidy which will be Rs 36 billion in equal shares.
“Similarly use of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) is very important for improving agriculture productivity. Consultations of government with fertilizer industry have resulted in further decrease of Rs 50 per bag” he said.
