ISLAMABAD May 16 (APP): Pakistan fighter aircraft F-16
modernization by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) was completed
in 2014 as the last batch of these jets were handed over to
Islamabad at an official ceremony in Ankara in September 2014,
and there is no ongoing modernization of these aircraft as had
been reported in a section of the media.
Dispelling the erroneous impression of an ongoing modernization
by Turkey of the F-16 aircraft in the media, the defense sources
said Monday that the modernization had been part of the Peace
Drive II Programme (2011-14) between Turkey and Pakistan for
upgradation of a total of 41 F-16 aircraft.
The first batch of these aircraft was delivered to Pakistan in February 2013 and the last batch on September 2, 2014.
