Events being arranged for promotion of hockey: Shahbaz Sr

MULTAN, Dec 16 (APP): Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Secretary General Shahbaz Ahmad Senior has said that various hockey events are being arranged for promotion of national game in the country.
He said that the PHF has sent a plan to government for approval to
conduct Pakistan Hockey League in the country adding that venue and schedule for the tournament would be announced after approval.
He said that hockey players from the country and abroad would
participate in the league and added that the purpose of conducting hockey league is revival of the game in the country.
While talking to APP here on Friday, Shahbaz said that National Hockey
Championship would be played at National Hockey Stadium Lahore from Dec 23, and added that the event would be helpful in finding the best hockey players. He said that Pakistan Hockey team would visit Australia in February or March, 2017.
To a question about laying Astroturf in Multan, he said that Pakistan
Sports Board (PSB) is going to lay big Astroturf in hockey ground Multan, adding that the PHF would also lay a mini Astroturf in the city, while work on the project would start soon in consultation with the PSB.
