President, PM discuss political situation, Waziristan operation, Balochistan package
ISLAMABAD, Nov 23 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani called on President Asif Ali Zardari here in the Presidency on Monday. During the meeting matters relating to the current political situation, the ongoing drive against militants in Waziristan, IDPs, the measures taken by the Government to address sugar problem and ‘Aghaz e Haqooqe Balochistan’ Package came under discussion.
Briefing the media, Spokesperson
to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the Prime
Minister discussed with the President salient features of Balochistan
Empowerment Package which will be unveiled in the joint sitting of the
Parliament on Tuesday. The package contains a series of
constitutional reforms, economic measures and administrative steps to
assuage the hurt feelings of the people of Balochistan. Babar said that
the President complimented the Prime Minister on finalization of
Balochistan Empowerment Package and expressed the hope that it will go a long way in redressing the grievances of the people of the province. The Prime Minister also discussed
with the President the constitutional issues that are being thrashed
out by the Constitutional Reforms Committee and will be placed soon in
the Parliament. The Prime Minister also discussed
with the President the new accountability law which is under process.
He said that he has started the process of taking other political
parties into confidence on this issue, Babar informed. The President said that the policy
of national reconciliation should be continued and all political
parties be taken on board on all national issues.
