ISLAMABAD, Nov 18 (APP):
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira Wednesday said that
the patriotic people of Pakistan were perturbed over the baseless mud-slinging
campaign against the elected President of Pakistan.Talking to ARY, he admitted
that the criticism is right of media and help creating healthy atmosphere
however a media group is spear heading person specific smear campaign against
the leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party which is condemnable.
“Criticism is a positive thing
and government never mind it.
However baseless criticism must
be avoided,” he said.
PPP government does not
consider appropriate taking action against a media group, who is busy in
mud-slinging of country’s leadership.
In Pakistan, people have
attachment with party’s leadership instead of party. So some elements are trying
to vilify popular leadership to weaken the party.
He gave example of PML (N)
chief Mian Nawaz Sharif and PPP’s co-chairman President Asif Ali Zardari. A
systematic campaign is being continuing against both the leaders.
He said impeachment of the
president is possible in light of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of
Pakistan.
Regarding the performance of
the Pakistan Peoples Party’s government, he said the party dared starting
operation against terrorists, who were posing threat to the country.
Commenting on the report of
Transparency International, he said the TI is being contacted to ascertain base
or source of the report. A committee has also been constituted to eliminate
corruption in departments and ensure good governance in the country.
Election results of
Gilgit-Baltistan have once again proved that PPP enjoys masses’ support. And
campaign against the leaderhisp of the party by a section of media has failed
badly.
Responding to a question, he
said, “The government is bound to present the list of National Reconciliation
Ordinance (NRO) beneficiaries in parliament.”
He hinted constituting a
coalition government in Gilgit Baltistan, adding PPP was in a position to form
government on its own. Out of 22 PPP has the support of 13 members in the
Assembly of Gilgit Baltistan.
