No other option but to defeat terrorists: Rehman Malik
ISLAMABAD, Nov 18 (APP): Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Wednesday that nation stands behind security forces to defeat terrorism in the country and steps like compterisation of criminals would help achieve the task. He was talking to media persons after launching of E-Enablement system linking all police stations of the capital. Under the E-Enablement all record and data of police stations have been computerized.
He said Taliban are killing
innocent people at the behest of their masters, who wanted to
destabalize the country through terrorism. “ We stand united in the war on terror, we have no other option but to defeat terrorists.” Replying to a question, he said
the government was investigating whether Maulana Fazalullah was in FATA
or in Afghanistan, adding terrorists are using Bajur-Kunar border for
movement between the two countries. The minister said Pakistan
government is fully supporting their Afghan counterparts in terrorism
and will request Afghan government to help in arrest of Maulana
Fazalullah if he is really in Afghanistan. Answering a question, he said the
government has rejected recent report of transparency international and
in this connection the Prime Minister has constituted a committee to
investigate into the report. He said that the government
strongly objected to parameters of the survey on which report was
based, adding such reports not only harm reputation of the country but
hamper investment in the country. Earlier in his address at
E-Enablement launching ceremony he said computerization of policing
system was the need of time for swift flow of information and
countering terrorism. He said computerization of FIR and
other records will not only enhance efficiency of police but will
facilitate common men in filing of their complaints. He said under the computerized
systems all details of terrorists and criminals will be available at
each police station of Islamabad, adding later this system will be
replicated across the country. The minister said the government
is also working on draft to review FIR pattern, which is 100 year old.
Under the new amendments to law, common men can register an FIR without
any delay and hurdles. IG Islamabad Kalim Imam, Secretary Interior and other officials of police were present on this occasion.
