China set to become 4th biggest trade partner of Pakistan: MOFCOM official -
BEIJING, Feb 9 (APP): China is becoming the 4th biggest trade partner of Pakistan, said here a senior Chinese official from Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).Addressing the Pakistan-China Trade Promotion Seminar at Pakistan Embassy, Ouyang Cheng of Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs of Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said both sides enhanced exports after the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).


UK Border Agency accept AJK marriage certificates -
LONDON, Feb 09 (APP)- The UK Border Agency has communicated to Lord Nazir Ahmed, a member of the British Upper House, that it accepts Nikah Khawani certificates from Azad Kashmir as a proof of  valid marriage.“I am able to inform you that following legal advice, Nikah Khawani certificates from AJK are now accepted as proof of a valid marriage by our UK Visa Section which processes settlement applications from Pakistan. Nikah Khawanis from any other region of Pakistan are not accepted and a Nikah Nama is still required in such cases,”

South Asian Games ends at grand closing ceremony amid dazzling firework

DHAKA, Feb. 09 (APP): The 11th edition of South Asian Games ended here on Tuesday evening amid fanfare, cultural show and dazzling firework which brightened the whole of Bangladesh capital.A crowd of around 20,000 was sent into ecstasy with brilliant display of laser-beam show and colorful firework which brought the curtains down in the 12-day regional sporting gala dominated by the Indian athletes.

Naseem’s feat - a proof Pak women not behind in sports
ISLAMABAD, Feb 9 (APP): Pakistan’s Naseem Hameed became the first Pakistani women in the 26-year history of regional games when on Monday she clinched a gold medal in the 100-metre sprint in 11th South Asian Games being held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.The 22-year old athlete produced her career best feat at Bangabandhu National Stadium and led the eight runners.

CEC authorizes PM to reshuffle Cabinet PDF Print E-mail
ppp-cec.jpgISLAMABAD, Nov 17 (APP): The Central Executive Committee of the Pakistan Peoples Party has authorized the Prime Minister to re shuffle the Cabinet to make it more responsive to the challenges the country was facing. Spokesperson to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar said the meeting chaired by the Co Chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari that continued till the wee hours of Tuesday morning also unanimously adopted a six point resolution that condemned the vilification campaign against the President.

According to the CEC resolution the party vowed to stand united against all conspiracies, restore the 1973 constitution in its original form, reposed trust in leadership of co chairman Asif Ali Zardari, congratulated the party over success in GB election and resolved to carry on policy of reconciliation.
Addressing the CEC President Asif Ali Zardari said the “PPP was a huge political force and was fully prepared to face all challenges confronting it politically.”
The President said the PPP formed government with coalition partners in the centre and the provinces and the democratic forces returned to the Presidency to embark upon a course of political and economic reformation.
President Zardari said the party had a long history of rendering great sacrifices for the sake of democracy and peoples’ rights and was not afraid of rendering sacrifices if the need arose.
Following is the text of the PPP CEC released from the President House Tuesday.
“1.   The PPP will continue its historic struggle for the social and economic rights of the people and for the continuation of democracy. The Party is united in fighting all conspiracies against it and will continue its struggle till the victory of the people’s rights.
2.    The meeting reiterated that the Party will seek to restore the original 1973 Constitution in the light of Charter of Democracy.
3.    The meeting reposed complete trust and confidence in the leadership of Co Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari and reiterated that all workers and Party organizations are standing united by the side of the Party leadership.
4.    The meeting congratulated Co Chairman President Asif Ali
Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani over the Party’s success in elections in Gilgit Baltistan. The meeting also thanked the people of Gilgit Baltistan for reposing confidence in PPP. It also complimented party workers and the Party organizations. The meeting reassured the people of Gilgit Baltistan that the Party will rise to their expectations.
5.    The meeting decided to continue the policy of dialogue and reconciliation in the light of the political philosophy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. The PPP will seek to carry along all the democratic forces for the success of democracy, ending militancy in the country and for the welfare of the people of Pakistan.
6.    The meeting also condemned the campaign of vilification against the Party leadership.”
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahangir Badar, Mian Raza Rabbani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Ms. Faryal Talpur, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Naveed Qamar, Dr. Babar Awan, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, Shahbaz Bhatti, Rehman A. Malik, Sardar Latif Khosa, Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali, Yousaf Talpur, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Ms. Farahnaz Ispahani, Mir Ejaz Jhakrani, Ms. Farzana Raja besides members from all provinces, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir.
