Govt providing free medical facilities: Parliamentary Secretary
Sukkur, Nov 16 (APP)- Parlimentary Secretary for Health, Dr Mehreen Bhutto has said that health, education, law and order and other sectors faced decay during the past eight years of dictatorship. She said that medical facilities were available to influential people under the last regime and these people were availing free medicines and treatment facilities in government hospitals at all levels.
However, she said that by increasing the health budget by 37 percent,
the present government has ensured modern health facilities and free
medicines as well as air-conditioning in general wards for poor and
resource less people.
Billions of rupees is being spent annually for free medicines in DHQ and teaching hospitals in the provinces, she maintained.
Talking to women delegations, doctors and members of Human Development
Society (HDS), Dr Mehreen said that present government would provide
all out cooperation especially to the women entrepreneurs.
Whereas, present government is taking solid measures to restore the
confidence of industrialists and investors to improve the economic
indicators as this is our top priority, she said.
The parliamentary secretary said that traders’ community is being
patronized and due to a better trade and industrial discipline of the
government, the country has been put on the road to progress and
prosperity.
However, all segments of society must realize their social
responsibility for the peaceful atmosphere and complete elimination of
terrorism so that healthy economic activities could be flourished, she
added.
She said that the present regime is well aware of the latest
requirements of the modern era, therefore, the provincial government
has given top priority to attract local and foreign investment in the
province.
The concept of public private partnership is being promoted in the
province through good governance and economic cooperation programme
between the government and the traders, which would further promote the
trading activities, she maintained.
