China set to become 4th biggest trade partner of Pakistan: MOFCOM official -
BEIJING, Feb 9 (APP): China is becoming the 4th biggest trade partner of Pakistan, said here a senior Chinese official from Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).Addressing the Pakistan-China Trade Promotion Seminar at Pakistan Embassy, Ouyang Cheng of Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs of Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said both sides enhanced exports after the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).


UK Border Agency accept AJK marriage certificates -
LONDON, Feb 09 (APP)- The UK Border Agency has communicated to Lord Nazir Ahmed, a member of the British Upper House, that it accepts Nikah Khawani certificates from Azad Kashmir as a proof of  valid marriage.“I am able to inform you that following legal advice, Nikah Khawani certificates from AJK are now accepted as proof of a valid marriage by our UK Visa Section which processes settlement applications from Pakistan. Nikah Khawanis from any other region of Pakistan are not accepted and a Nikah Nama is still required in such cases,”

South Asian Games ends at grand closing ceremony amid dazzling firework

DHAKA, Feb. 09 (APP): The 11th edition of South Asian Games ended here on Tuesday evening amid fanfare, cultural show and dazzling firework which brightened the whole of Bangladesh capital.A crowd of around 20,000 was sent into ecstasy with brilliant display of laser-beam show and colorful firework which brought the curtains down in the 12-day regional sporting gala dominated by the Indian athletes.

Naseem’s feat - a proof Pak women not behind in sports
ISLAMABAD, Feb 9 (APP): Pakistan’s Naseem Hameed became the first Pakistani women in the 26-year history of regional games when on Monday she clinched a gold medal in the 100-metre sprint in 11th South Asian Games being held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.The 22-year old athlete produced her career best feat at Bangabandhu National Stadium and led the eight runners.

People of GB to vote for Legislative Assembly on Thursday PDF Print E-mail
GILGIT,  Nov 11 (APP) :  The Election Commission of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Wednesday issued a constituency wise list of voters, candidates and party’s backed candidates as well as independent candidates who would contest for elections of GB Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has emerged as the major party that has 22 candidates followed by Mutahida Qaumi Movement which has 20 candidates while the other Political Parties including Pakistan Muslim League  N has 15, PML Q 14, GBDA  4, Awami National Party 3, Jamat Islami 2 and Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf 2.
According to the Commission, Population of Gilgit is 319262 and registered voters out of this population is 218541.
The number of female voters is 96352 and male voters are 122189.
The election commission has set up 272 polling station across the Gilgit District out of them 11 stations are very sensitive, 70 are sensitive so total 81 stations are declared sensitive.
The Chief Election Commissioner, Rahim Nawaz Durrani while giving a break up said, there are 22  candidates and out of them are 7 party candidates in LA 1 Gilgit and estimated population is 56641, out of them there are 48574 voters are registered.
The number of male voters is 28322 and female voters are registered 20252 and there are 56 polling stations in this constituency.
The Chief Election Commissioner said 18 candidates are in run, out of them  seven are party candidates  in LA 2 where estimated population is 64573 out of which total registered voters are 61753.
The number of male voters is 37628 while female voters are 24125 and polling stations are 82.
The election Commission said in LA 3 the number of candidates is 13 out of them five party ticket holders and eight independent who are taking part in the run in LA 3 Gilgit where estimated population is 69395 and out this 39410 are registered voters.
The number of male voters is registered 20679 while female voters are registered 18731 with 66 polling stations in the constituency.  The Election Commission said that in LA 4 total candidates are 15 and out of them four are  party candidates and 11 are independent and estimated population is 29603 and out of this registered voters are 21204.
The male voters are 10945 and female are 10259 with 30 polling stations.
In LA 5 Gilgit, 19 candidates are in run and 16 are independent while three are party ticket holders and in this constituency estimated population is 37821 and out of this registered voters are 13664.
The male voters are 7198 and females are 6466 with 20 polling stations in the constituency.
Some 16 candidates are in run for poll in LA 6 constituency and out of them  11 are independent and five are party ticket holders and estimated population is 61229 and out of this number registered voters are 33936. The registered male votes are 17417 and females are 16519 with 47 polling stations.
In six constituencies of Skardu, 32 candidates are taking part in polls and out of them are 18  party candidates and 14 independent candidates are in field.
The estimated population is 281899 and out of this total number of registered voters 169861 with 275 polling stations as 40 stations are declared very sensitive and 37 are sensitive.
Total female voters are registered 79453 while male voters are 90412.
In LA 7 Skardu, the estimated population is 35310 and out of this male voters are 16029 and female 11804 with 28 polling stations in the constituency.
In LA 8 Skardu estimated population is 54021 out of population the registered voters are 38557. The number of female voters is 17639 and male voters are 20918 with 47 polling stations.
The LA 9 details disclosed that total estimated population is 46859 and number of registered voters are 24088. The number of male voters 12578 and females are 11510 with 54 polling stations.
In LA 10 Skardu the estimated population is 46054 and registered votes are 23594.
Male voters are 11719 and females are 11875 with 43 polling stations in the constituency.
The election commission of Gilgit Baltistan said the estimated population in LA 11 Skardu 43229 while registered voters are 23237 with 43 polling stations.
The male voters are 12310 and female voters are 10927 in the constituency.
Similarly, in LA 12 Skardu the estimated population is 56426 and registered voters are 32552 with 60 polling stations in the constituency.
The male voters are 16858 and female voters are 15694.
In Astor district total population is 94032 and total registered
voters are 54590 and male voters are 27748 and female voters 26842 with 81 polling stations as five stations are declared very sensitive and seven sensitive.
There are total of 37 candidates for two seats and out of them are 13
party candidates and 24 independent candidates were in run.
It said that in LA 13 Astore the estimated population is 45674 with 27620 registered voters and 45 polling stations.  The male voters in this constituency are 13902 and female voters are 13718.
Similarly in LA 14 Astore the estimated population is 48358 and registered voters are 26970 with 36 polling stations in the constituency. The male voters are 13846 while females are 13124.
The estimated population is 173,097 while number for total registered voters are 119419 with 93 polling stations as 45 stations are declared very sensitive and 18 are sensitive in Dimer.
The total number of female voters are 54649 and male voters are 65070.
The election commission said that 37 candidates are taking part in elections and out of them are 14 party candidates and 23 independent candidates in the district.
The election commission gave further details and said in LA 15 Diamer the estimated population is 39249 with 39 polling stations.  The male voters are 16728 and females are 22521.
In LA 16 the estimated population is 54751 and registered voters are 36518 with 26 polling stations. The male voters are 23848 and females, 12670.
Likewise, in LA 17 estimated population is 46125 and registered voters are 26364 with 17 polling stations in the constituency.The male voters are 14578 and  females are 11786.
In LA 18 Diamer the estimated population is 31541 and registered voters are 17588 with 11 polling stations and male voters are 9916 and female voters are 7672.
The election commissions said 43 candidates were in run for polls and out of them are 13 party candidates and independent candidates, 30.
The Election Commission of Gilgit Baltistan said in Ghizer district the total population is 157736 and registered voters are 85190 with 128 polling stations and 09 are very sensitive and 09 are sensitive.
The total female voters in Ghizer district are 40659 and male voters are 44531.
In LA 19 Ghizer the estimated population is 47760 and voters are 27662 with 40 polling stations. The male are 14313 and female 13349.
However, the polling in this constituency is postponed due to demise of MQM backed candidate, Sher Bhadur.
In LA 20 Ghizer the estimated population is 60332 while registered voters are 32591 with 43 poling stations.  The male voters are 17236 and female voters, 15355.
In LA 21 Ghizer the estimated population is 49644 and total voters are 24937 with 45 polling stations. The male voters are 12982 and female voters 11955 females.
The Election Commission of Gilgit Baltistan said in Ghanche district 12 candidates would compete and 10 are party candidates and 2 are independent.
Estimated population is 115944 and total registered voters are 69388 with 144 polling stations out of which are 09 highly sensitive and 12 are sensitive.
The number of female voters in this district is 34426 and male voters are 34959.
However, the election commission give further details of constituency wise and said in LA 22 Ghanche the total estimated population is 42295 and total registered voters are 26283 with 53 polling stations. Male voters are 13272 and female 13011.  In LA 23 Ghanche the estimated population is 42134 and total voters 25218 with 48 polling stations. The male voters are 12798 and females are 12420.
The election commission said the estimated population is 31515 and registered voters are 17884 with 43 polling stations while male voters are 8889 and females are 8995.
