China expresses concern over denial of visa by Indian to its technicians
BEIJING, Nov 3 (APP): China Tuesday expressed “concern” over denial of visa and called India to “provide convenience” for Chinese workers applying for employment visa in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on simplifying visa procedures. Responding to a question, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu at a regular press briefing here said that to implement projects of economic and bilateral importance in India, Chinese enterprises had tried their best to employee the local peoples and at the same time they need some necessary technicians from China.
“With regard to the visa issue, China has expressed its concerns to India for many times,” said Ma.
He expressed the hope that Indian “ can follow the Memorandum of
Understanding on simplification of visa procedures between the two
countries”.
The implementation of MoU would help facilitate the issue of work visa for Chinese technicians to India, he observed.
According to Xinhua news, a new visa policy, issued in mid July, has
affected expatriates working in India on a business visa, which
previously had been allowed for a wider range of occupations and
employees.
Approximately 25,000 Chinese workers in such sectors as power
generation, communication and petroleum in India will be affected by
the new policy, Xinhua quoted Indian media reports.
Chinese Foreign Ministry also issued a notice on its official website,
warning Chinese citizens heading to work in India to acquire employment
visas first.
