Dictator who forced two-time PMs to live in exile has received divine justice: Pervaiz Ashraf PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, Nov 3 (APP): Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said Tuesday that it was divine justice that the former dictator who forced two-time prime ministers Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif to live in exile has himself been forced to live away from the country.

Taking part in the debate in the National Assembly on November 3, 2007 emergency imposed by the then president Pervez Musharraf, he said that time has proved that will of the people is supreme and the dictators cannot suppress it for long.

He said that the nation paid heavy price for the dictatorships in the past and hoped that in future democracy would flourish and no body would dare to derail the system.

The masses rendered great sacrifices for restoration of democracy and the PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto and countless workers of the Pakistan Peoples Party and other parties sacrificed for the dawn of democracy.

PML-Q leader Amir Muqam stated that the PML-Q was against National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and none of its leaders benefitted from it. He said that PML-Q would not become part of any move to destabilize the democratic government. He said that the PML-Q believes that the war on terror was our own war and not foreigners.

MNA from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) Zafar Beg Bhittani said that the dictator who broke the constitution and weakened the institutions should be held to account.

Sardar Yousuf Talpur said the blackest day of our history was the day when Musharraf surrendered to demands of the United States on one telephone call.

PPP legislator Akhundzada Chatan said that the people of the country were facing serious problems and the Parliament should fulfill its responsibilities and take steps for resolution of these problems.

Akram Masih Gill said that we should also condemn the marshal law imposed by Ziaul Haq. He said that during Zia era, women and minorities were pushed to the wall while Pervez Musharraf took steps to bring them in the mainstream.

Marvi Memon said all members support democracy, but she was of the opinion they had right to highlight good work done during the Musharraf era.

Sher Muhammad Baloch said that the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had strongly rejected the emergency imposed on Nov 3, 2007.

Yasmeen Rehman said that successive marshal laws damaged the vision of democratic Pakistan. She said that previous Parliament was a rubber stamp but the present one was sovereign and all important issues are brought here.

She further said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had realized in 2004 that if the extremists were thwarted then they would threaten to come to Islamabad and her prediction had proved correct.
