ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 (APP): Two delegations comprising of
leading personalities from all walks of society conducted a visit to the
reconstructed facilities by ERRA in the affected areas of Abbottabad and
Muzaffarabad. Two delegations comprising of ambassadors, heads of International
Organizations, representatives of donors agencies and prominent personalities
from Academia, media and business community were also accompanies by Minister
for Science and Technology Azam Swati, Chairman ERRA Altaf Muhammad Saleem and
Deputy Chairman Lt. Gen. Sajjad Akram.

The main objective of the visit was to acquaint the
delegates of reconstruction activities carried out by ERRA and overall progress
undertaken in the last four years.
Both delegations first arrived at Social Welfare Complex
and Women Development Center in Muzaffarabad and visited various parts of this
huge facility.
All the delegates particularly the females praised the work
done by ERRA to rehabilitate the lives of vulnerable groups especially the women
folk.
While visiting Shaikh Khalifa Hospital the visitors were of
the view that such state-of-the-art facility speaks of ERRA’s commitment to
convert adversity into opportunity.
Later, the delegation headed by Turkish Ambassador visited
District Govt Complex building, Usmaina Mosque built with the cooperation of
Turkish Govt.
They also visited Khurhsid National Library, Jalalabad
Kashmir Trade and Travel Center and Shopping Complex along with visiting Multi
Facility Complex in Muzaffarabad and Hazara University.
Altaf Saleem informed the visitors that ERRA’s
reconstruction was not only about putting brick and mortar together but it has
intervened in various software and social aspects to provide affected people
with good Livelihood, Health, Social Protection and recreational facilities.
They said that ERRA takes reconstruction and rehabilitation
of these areas as a noble responsibility and after the development of four new
cities in Muzaffarabad, Balakot, Rawalakot and Bagh, this area will be regarded
as one of the best developed in the region.
The delegates appreciated ERRA’s efforts and were of the
view that ERRA’s efforts truly depicted strong planning and effective
implementations in post disaster management which could be a model for the
world.
