ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP): Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Syed Sumsam Ali Bukhari Wednesday said that government has been saying with clarity that the Kerry-Lugar Bill (KLB) is a piece of US legislation and it is not binding on Pakistan. The KLB would not have any adverse affect on state or any institution of the state.
Talking to a private television channel, he said that Pakistan is a sovereign state and its parliament is empowered to make decisions in the national interest.
Presently the matter is under discussion in the parliament and hopefully it would be settled amicably, he added.
He said that all the state institutions are assets of nation and the elected government would never allow any move to flourish that aims to de-stabilize them.
The Minister said that country was presently passing through a critical stage of its history and it would be unwise to create confrontation between the state institutions at this particular time.
To a question he said that PPP is the initiator of country’s nuclear programme and its leadership would never compromise on it.
