BEIJING, July 15 (APP): Chinese Cricket Team, the
youngest Asian cricketers continue to grow stronger on the pitch as
China’s talented women team reached the semi-finals of recently concluded Asia Cricket
Council’s ACC Twenty20 cup held at Malaysia from 5-11 July.The Chinese team beat Kuwait , Malaysia , Oman and UAE to
reach the semi-finals where they lost to Thailand.
As many as 12 teams qualified to participate in the
Sun Mengyao played key innings for China scoring 48 against
Kuwait and 57 against
UAE paving way for her team to victory in both matches.
Wang Meng emerged as the key fast bowlers for China
taking 3 wickets for 12 runs against host Malaysia in a well
contested match won by China.
China was the latest entry in Cricket world despite the
fact that the sport living nation won tremendous laurels in other fields,
Cricket is still waiting to make its mark on China sports horizon.
Chinese Cricket Team is being coached by Rashid
Khan, former Pakistani Test Cricketer and is also receiving active
support from Javed Miandad, Pakistan’s Cricket Ambassador to China who has also been
nominated as Cricket Advisor by China Cricket Association.
Earlier, Pakistan coordinated a tour of Chinese Women
Cricket Team to Malaysia in June for holding practice matches on standard
Cricket pitch as there is no Cricket playing pitch in China so far.
The Pakistan’s prolific bastman Javed Miandad personally
went to Malaysia to train the Chinese team before start of the Championship.
“There is immense potential in the young Chinese
boys and girls and I am quite hopeful that Chinese Cricket Team will shine
in the upcoming Asian Games in China in 2010.”Javed told APP
