ISLAMABAD, Jul 8 (APP): Top
militant commander in Swat valley Maulana Fazalullah has been critically injured
in an attack by the security forces, Director General ISPR Major Gen. Athar
Abbas said. “We have received credible
information about his sustaining critical injuries following an attack by the
security forces,” he said in a briefing to the media here on Wednesday.
Answering a question about
extension of operation Rah-e-Nijat from South Waziristan Agency (SWA)
to North Waziristan Agency (NWA), he said there was no such plan. However, he said
in SWA, reliable sources have confirmed that Baitullah Mehsud is making all
out efforts to get a Fatwa from Mufti Abdul Rehman and Mufti Niamat Ullah of
Makeen to announce that suicide attacks against government installations,
mosques and madrassas are authorized as per dictates of Islam.
He said the operation Rah-e-Nijat
is against terrorists led by Baitullah Mehsud who is responsible for the
terrorist attacks in settled parts of the country.
