ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (APP):
Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H. Naek Friday said the coalition government
had made history by reinstating a large number of deposed judges. Talking to journalists here at
the Parliament House, the Minister said the government had welcomed all those
deposed judges who aspired to serve the masses.
“The PPP-led government
believes in independence of judiciary. We don’t believe in individuals. There
are judges who have chosen to do politics. We welcome their choice as they have
every right to do so,” he said.
To a question, Farooq Naek said
the Constitution was silent about the restoration of judges.
“Yes, there is provision in the
constitution to appoint judges. However, the Constitution is silent on judges’
restoration,” he remarked.
Urging the lawyers to go to
courts and win justice for their clients which was their prime responsibility,
Naek said justice is done in courts and not on roads.
The Minister said the Ministry
of Law and Justice had made tremendous developments during the past one year.
“We have prepared lots of
important laws. We have also finalized a law to abolish National Accountability
Bureau (NAB) which is a transparent piece of legislation which would soon be
presented to the Parliament,” he said.
