Increase in electricity tariff to be announced shortly: Minister |

ISLAMABAD,
Sept 3 (APP): Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf Wednesday said
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will announce increase in
electricity tariff in next two or three days.
Talking to
media persons at Parliament House he said Ministry of Water and Power does not
suggest increase in the electricity tariff, the NEPRA decides it after
consultation with the different electric companies.
He said the
subsidy on different commodities has bankrupted the country’s economy and
therefore the government has withdrawn it.
To a
question he said there wouldn’t be unannounced loadshedding across the country
during “Sehr” and “Iftar” time, adding that people can contact him on
0333-5210000 in case of loadshedding during Sehr or Iftar.
He said
number of power generation projects are in pipeline and after their completion
the loadshedding would finish permanently.
