PESHAWAR, Aug
11 (APP): Chief Minister NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that there was
no room for terrorism in Islam, saying all the religions were meant for promoting
love, harmony and to put the humanity on right path. “Every
religion believe in peace and are against violence and terrorism and they are a major
source of teaching and searching for peace and tranquility against hatred and
unrest,” Hoti said this during a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Council of
World Religions headed Qari Rohullah Madani, Chief Khatteeb NWFP Government, who
called him at his office on Monday.
Other members
of the delegation were Rev. Aftab Gohar, Allama Fakhrul Hassan Kararvi,
Haroon Sarab Diyal, Hamphery Peter and Dr. Qibla Ayaz. Speaking on the occasion,
Chief Minister said that there was complete religious freedom for the minorities
in the province and it was responsibility of his government to provide protection
to their worship places.
Appreciating efforts of the council members, Hoti said that their endeavors
would result into
gaping the differences in different religions of the world and particularly in
Pakistan, religious harmony and spirit of co-existence will promote.
Referring
to the law and order situation, the Chief Minister said that his government had
initiated its sincere efforts to douse and prevent the fire of insurgency
through political approach. “It is our prime duty to resolve the problems
through peaceful means,” he added.
Elaborating, Ameer Haider Hoti said that the government was working on a
three-prong policy under which basic facilities of life to the dwellers of the
troubled areas will be ensured by executing mega developmental projects in order
to remove the frustrations of the concerned people. He said that it was
responsibility of the elected provincial government to maintain its writ and
restore peace in the region. He further said that the government was still
intact to its stance of holding negotiations, but in the same breath he warned
that no one will be allowed to challenge the government’s writ.
He told the
delegation that the provincial government reached agreements with local
militants for restoration of peace and was still faithful to those accords.
“But, there
are some forces, who do not want to see peace in our province and are hell bent
upon sabotaging their peace initiatives,” he added.
Hoti
appealed to delegation to help his government restore peace in the province, besides
their efforts for promotion of inter-religion harmony. The members of the delegation
voiced their support to the government policy of resolving the issue of
militancy through talks and assured their full support on behalf of their
council.
They also
invited the Chief Minister for attending the seminar of Pakistan Council of
World Religions and thanked the chief minister for assuring his assistance
in this regard. Chief Minister was told that the proposed seminar will be held in
two sessions in which renowned scholars of different religions will present
their speeches on the subject of inter-religions harmony. It was further told
that the council had planned arranging such seminars in other districts of the
province.
The Chief
Minister assured his full cooperation in regard to the council efforts for
promotion of inter-religions harmony.
