U.N. gathering information on coalition forces’ attack on Pak border post |

UNITED NATIONS, June 12
(APP): The U.N. mission in Afghanistan is trying to gather independent
information about an airstrike by U.S.-led coalition forces on a Pakistan army
post along the Pak-Afghan border that killed 11 paramilitary troops, a world
body spokesperson said Wednesday.
“We are trying to gather
independent information on the incident,” spokesperson Michele Montas said when
asked whether Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had any reaction on the coalition
attack inside the Pakistani territory.
The U.N. chief would
respond when has full information on the airstrike, she added.
Earlier, United States
Ambassador to the U.N. Zalmay Khalilzad, responding to a question on the attack on
the Pakistani border post, said, “I don’t have anything on it.”
Khalilzad is the president
of the U.N. Security Council for the month of June.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Army
has condemned it as an act of aggression within Pakistan’s border that “hit at
the very basis of cooperation” in the war on terrorism.
