PM condemns allied forces attack in tribal region |
|

ISLAMABAD, Jun 11 (APP):
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday condemned the allied forces
attack in tribal region saying the government will take stand on sovereignty,
dignity, self respect of Pakistan.
Speaking here at the
National Assembly on a point of order by Engr Amir Muqam, he said he was
informed of the attack during the cabinet meeting.
“We strongly condemn
this attack,” he added.
Prime Minister Gilani
said “no one will be allowed to carry out such attacks in
Pakistan.”
Earlier Amir Muqam drew the
chair’s attention towards the incident in tribal area and said many innocent
lives were lost as a result of NATO forces attack.
Raza Hayat Hiraj on another
point of order quoted a prominent leader of the lawyers movement as saying that
the parliament was a rubber stamp and called for referring the matter to
national assembly’s standing committee.
The Prime Minister
reiterated that the supremacy of the parliament will be maintained at all cost.
“We know how to maintain
the sanctity of the House,” he said and made it clear that no one should be
under any false impression that he will dictate the parliament and said it will
not be allowed to become a rubber stamp.
“The supremacy of the
parliament is not lowered by the statement of one person. We are representatives
of 160 million and will defend their rights.”
Gilani said he had been the
speaker of the national assembly and has always taken along the opposition.
