Advancing clock relief for office going people |
|

ISLAMABAD, Jun 1 (APP): The
clocks have been advanced by an hour from June 1 (Sunday) all over the country
that would help to save working people from scorching heat and find an extra
hour for their leisure activities.
The Daylight Saving Times
(DST) would also help in saving energy as the country is facing power crisis.
Like many other countries, Pakistan has planned to use DST to save energy during
the peak summer season.
The office going people
appreciated comprehensive plan for conserving power by advancing clocks by an
hour from June 01.
However, clocks would be
brought back to the actual time on September 1. According to DST, the sunrise in
Islamabad will be at 6 a.m. instead of 5 a.m. and sunset at 8 p.m.
“Advancing clock would be a
sigh of relief in summer season for the office going staff who usually start
their duty at sharp 9 a.m. as it will save us from severe heat at the peak of
summer,” said Hummad Hussain, an official.
DST or summer time in
British English is the convention of advancing clocks so that afternoons have
more daylight and mornings have less.
Typically clocks are
adjusted forward one hour near the start of spring and are adjusted backward in
autumn. Modern DST was first proposed in 1907 by William Willett.
