ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP): Pakistan will despatch another consignment of relief goods for the affectees of the devastating earthquake in China on Wednesday.
The relief goods, through four sorties of C-130 aircraft, include medicines, blankets and 900 tents. A field hospital is also on standby, awaiting clearance from Chinese government for China’s quake-hit Sichuan Province.
The quake measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale has killed over 34,000 while around 71,000 are feared missing.
President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani have visited the Chinese embassy to express their solidarity and sent condolence messages to the Chinese government and its people.
Pakistan had earlier dispatched two plane loads of relief goods include 500 blankets, 300 tents, 1000 plastic mats, 3 tons of bottled water and four tons of medicines.
Pakistan had asked China about its immediate requirements, and on its request is making arrangements to despatch 10,000 tents.
The Red Crescent Society of Pakistan has also donated 50,000 U.S. dollars to its sister organisation in China to provide assistance to the quake affected people.
