Gojra club wins hockey final in India |

LAHORE,Apr 25 (APP)- Gojra hockey club won the final of the Jat Tar Singh memorial U19 hockey tournament defeating Amritsar Academy 4-2 on Friday at Ludhiana hockey stadium.
According to information made available here, the Pakistani team made a grand recovery to win the match after being 2-2 before taking 2-0 lead at break with superb hockey efforts. The touring team enjoyed supremacy when Shahid Jamal and Ramzan Maqsood pulled back one goal through greater anticipation and brilliance. Gojra teams joy was ruined in the second session as the Indian side brought teams at par when Gulgeet Singh and Amar Jeet Singh demonstrated superb hitting from the heart of the striking circle to hit fine field goals for the entertainment of a big audience. After being in a difficult situation,Gojra team put its head down and endeavoured to regain supremacy through a lovely coordination between both the flanks and Indians found it hard to salvage their pride as the visiting side rocked them with the addition of two goals midway through the second half. Muhammad Imran and Imran Malik each scored one goal to dump their opponents who remained disjointed in the remaining part of the game. Meanwhile Patron in Chief of Gojra club, former olympian Rasheed ul Hasan has congratulated the team on winning the title and attributed the success to collective efforts. He said the young players of his club has shown encouraging performance and some of them will soon their mark at highest level of Pakistan hockey. Indian Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Sigh Badal was the chief guest on the occasion and gave away the prizes. |
