National Reconciliatory Committee to take CBMs for Balochistan |

ISLAMABAD, Apr 23 (APP): First Meeting of newly formed National Reconciliatory Committee for Balochistan Wednesday decided to take confidence building measures in order to start national reconstruction drive for Balochistan.
The meeting was held in Zardari House which was presided over by Senator Asif Ali Zardari Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party in which Senator Dr. Babar Awan, Senator Raza Rabbani, Nabeel Gabol MNA, Ijaz Jhakrani MNA, Sardar Lashkari Raisani, Saadullah Shah and Rehman Malik. Dr. Babar Awan was elected as Secretary General of the Committee. The Committee was named as “Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Reconciliation Committee for Balochistan”. New Secretary General was mandated to prepare the detailed papers on vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto to resolve the over due, long standing issues as well as irritants about Balochistan. The meeting deliberated the issue of good governance, provincial autonomy, poverty, elevation, end of political persecution, issue of missing persons, share of Balochistan in natural as well as national resources, rule of law, equality, parity and equal protection of law and issues relating to the province In order to achieve the national goal of reconciliation it was decided to take into confidence all political parties and stake holders including educationists, intellectuals, journalist and non-governmental actors. In this regard Sardar Lashkari Raisani was asked to contact such intellectuals, journalists from Balochistan, NGOs etc. where after a subcommittee of these intellectuals would meet in Islamabad to give their inputs on the issues of Balochistan. Ministry of Interior was given special directions by CCPPP Senator Asif Ali Zardari to provide the facility of night vision landing for the air traffic at Quetta Airport. Committee decided to have one meeting at the Gawadar Sea Port in order to consider the back drop of reservations about the mega projects presently being underway in Balochistan. The Committee also resolved to formulate a constant policy about problems of Balochistan which shall be implemented through the Senate of Pakistan after having taken the mandate from the national Assembly of Pakistan. Committee condemned cold blooded assassination of Professor Dr. Safdar Ali Kiani while observing that at the time when the largest democratic party in the country is starting its triumph for reconstruction of Balochistan through national reconciliation some anti-people elements wanted to de-rail and sabotage the on going democratic process in Balochistan and this amounts to de-rail the road map in favour of people of Balochistan. Committee offered Fatiha for the departed soul and sent condolences to the widow and the children of the eminent educationist. |
