China set to become 4th biggest trade partner of Pakistan: MOFCOM official -
BEIJING, Feb 9 (APP): China is becoming the 4th biggest trade partner of Pakistan, said here a senior Chinese official from Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).Addressing the Pakistan-China Trade Promotion Seminar at Pakistan Embassy, Ouyang Cheng of Department of International Trade and Economic Affairs of Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said both sides enhanced exports after the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA).


UK Border Agency accept AJK marriage certificates -
LONDON, Feb 09 (APP)- The UK Border Agency has communicated to Lord Nazir Ahmed, a member of the British Upper House, that it accepts Nikah Khawani certificates from Azad Kashmir as a proof of  valid marriage.“I am able to inform you that following legal advice, Nikah Khawani certificates from AJK are now accepted as proof of a valid marriage by our UK Visa Section which processes settlement applications from Pakistan. Nikah Khawanis from any other region of Pakistan are not accepted and a Nikah Nama is still required in such cases,”

South Asian Games ends at grand closing ceremony amid dazzling firework

DHAKA, Feb. 09 (APP): The 11th edition of South Asian Games ended here on Tuesday evening amid fanfare, cultural show and dazzling firework which brightened the whole of Bangladesh capital.A crowd of around 20,000 was sent into ecstasy with brilliant display of laser-beam show and colorful firework which brought the curtains down in the 12-day regional sporting gala dominated by the Indian athletes.

KARACHI, March 13 (APP): In a meeting held at Governor House Thursday under the chairmanship of Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, once again publication of blasphemous cartoons by Denmark newspapers and program for release of a film was vehemently condemned and it was pledged that protection of “Namoos-e-Rasalat” will be ensured at all cost.

On the occasion, the Governor announced holiday throughout the Province on 11th of Rabiul Awwal besides 12th of Rabiul Awwal.

The meeting was attended by Finance and Information Minister Dewan Mohammed Yousuf Farooqui, Religious Affairs Minister Haji Irshad Memon, City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal, Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, senior officials of provincial and district administrations, police and rangers besides representative ulema belonging to various schools of thought.

The Governor reviewed the arrangements made for Jashn Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and issued necessary directives.

Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said that publication of blasphemous cartoons have hurt the feelings of Muslims and Muslims of Sindh province fully express their solidarity with the world Muslims on this issue.

He recalled that last time, on this very issue, a memorable and historic protest rally was organised in Karachi with government and ulema cooperation which had had deep rooted impact.

He said that now when there was repetition of the same obnoxious act, we all together will express our all out love with Holy Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).

Reviewing arrangements for Jashn Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the Governor said these should have far more grandeur and establishment of environment of Ittehad Bain-ul-Muslimeen will be ensured with all out cooperation of Ulema and people.

He had an appraisal about security arrangements, cleanliness, provision of water and electricity and other related matters and issued directives to concerned authorities for ensuring fool proof measures.

The Ulema specially appreciated the efforts of Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan which he made for having best arrangements on the occasions of Rabiul Awwal, Muharram-ul-Haram and Eids during the last 5 years and said the cooperation they got from Governor House for all this period does not find any match.

The Ulema also appreciated the steps taken by City Nazim Mustafa Kamal and while expressing their views said that Ulema of all schools of thought are fully united and, under obtaining conditions, would work for the stability of Pakistan and serving the cause of country and its people through their mutual cooperation.

They also gave their suggestions in relation to arrangements for programs of Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Attending the meeting were Ameeer Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat Pakistan, Maulana Shah Turabul Huq Qadri, Siddiq Rathore, Maulana Asaad Thanvi, Shahid Ghauri, Allama Furqan Haider Abidi, Maualana Feroz Rehmani of Muttaheda Ulema Committee and other noted ulemma and religious leaders.

Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan informed that heirs of women who lost their lives in a tragic incident at Faizan-e-Madina would be paid soon.

He said that Ulema have always extended valuable cooperation for maintenance of law and order and environment of harmony in the Province on various occasions.

He said it was the result of these collective efforts that no attempt against sectarian harmony in the Province succeeded.

The Governor said protection of the life and pproperty of people is among basic responsibilities of the government and whenever a challenge in this regard came, it was faced with cooperation of people.

He pointed out that holding of general elections  was the biggest challenge of the year and these took place in a peaceful atmosphere.

Referring to prevailing situation, he said the people should continue their cooperation with the administration by remaining alert and careful.

He said Rabi-ul-Awwal is the month of great joice and its  jshan will be celebrated with complete harmony and cohesion.

He directed all the organizations to make best possible arrangements.
