Anoki wants to facilitate peace talks with Taliban PDF Print E-mail
ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (APP): “I am hurt to see Muslims fighting on another. I have come to Pakistan to facilitate talks between the government and the Taliban to restore peace and stop killings”, said Muhammad Hussain Anoki, renowned wrestler and Japanese parliamentarian, on Wednesday. Addressing a press conference here, he said that he would visit the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and personally meet Taliban leaders to know their viewpoint. “I am praying to Allah Almighty to  succeed me in my mission of bringing peace in Pakistan. I am sure peace will soon come to the country,” he added. He said that he was ready to sacrifice his life to make his peace mission successful.
Anoki said the purpose of his visit was also to promote peace in Pakistan through sports. “If someone wants to fight, he should fight inside the ring.”
He said that he was moved by the destruction caused by the earthquake in Balochistan and it was another reason to visit Pakistan to help the victims of catastrophe.
He said that he was not allowed to visit the earthquake-hit areas due to security reasons. However, he had got the updates about the destruction from media and would raise funds in Japan for the relief and rehabilitation of victims, he added.
He said that he had met parliamentarians from FATA and officials of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to start developmental works in FATA.
“I have decided to launch projects for clean drinking water, building schools and health facilities in the area.”
Replying to a question, he said there was great potential for wrestling in Pakistan, which had produced great wrestlers in the past.  “With the support of Punjab government, I am setting up an academy in Lahore to train young wrestlers.”
G G Jamal, a parliamentarian from FATA, appreciated Mr Anoki for takinginterest in the development of FATA and his decision to facilitate talks with the Taliban.
