UNITED NATIONS, May 28 (APP): Stressing the crucial role journalists play in providing authentic information, Pakistan has called for stepped up efforts to ensure safety and security of media professionals, especially in the situations of armed conflict.

UNITED NATIONS, May 28 (APP):  The United Nations Security Council Wednesday adopted a resolution condemning the frequent attacks against journalists worldwide and strongly deploring impunity for such acts.

Washington, May 27 (APP): A spokesman of the Pakistan Embassy in Washington expressed disappointment over a recent editorial by the New York Times suggesting Pakistan's government complicity in a case of bogus-degree that allegedly involved Axact, a Pakistan-based company.

PM opens new PTV centre in Multan PDF Print E-mail
MULTAN, Dec 30 (APP): Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani formally opened new PTV centre here on Friday.Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr.  Firdous Ashiq Awan, Incharge PM’s camp office in Multan Syed Ahmad Mujtaba Gilani, MPA Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, federal secretary information and broadcasting Taimoor Azmat Usman, PM’s son Musa Gilani, Managing Director PTV Yousuf Baig Mirza, GM PTV Multan Karamat Mughal, and other officials and dignitaries attended the event.It was the eighth centre of Pakistan Television (PTV) in the country that became operational today in Multan.Earlier, PM Gilani also witnessed different colourful cultural stalls set up at the newly built building of PTV Multan.

The PM appreciated the stalls depicting the culture of Seraiki area. In addition to stalls decorated with embroidery work and traditional pottery of Multan, there was a stall where local artists and singers were also present.
Managing Director PTV, Yousuf Baig Mirza informed the PM that the PTV Multan centre was built at a cost of Rs 376 million and its architecture and elevation portrays the true heritage of Multan.  Utilization of traditional blue Kashi tiles adds to the beauty of the edifice.
PTV Multan centre comprises two studios equipped with modern equipment.
A cultural show was also organized where artists from all over the country including Seraiki area.
