Media person among eight dead in Quetta blast |

QUETTA, April 16(APP) - At
least eight people including a senior police official and a media person were
killed while 35 others were wounded in a suicide blast in the casualty of the
Civil Hospital Quetta, DIG investigation Qazi Wahid said Friday.It was a suicide
blast and the bomber detonated the explosives when a large number of people
including the media persons and relatives of a Shiia leader Arshad Zaidi had
gathered in front of the hospital casualty to receive his body, DIG said.
Arshad Zaidi is the son of renowned Shiia scholar Ashraf Zaidi and was gunned
down at Manan Chawk when he was entering a private bank where he reportedly
worked.
Eight persons including Arif
Malik cameraperson of Samaa TV and DSP Zahir Shah Kazmi died on the spot while
35 others including four journalists were wounded.
The wounded are being treated.
In the meantime, Chief Minister
Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani strongly condemned the blast and appealed to the people
to remain calm and foil the malicious designs of the anti state elements. He
also ordered the police to utilize all resources for the immediate arrest of the
culprits.
