LAHORE, Nov 26 (APP): Pakistan U-17 champion and national number two, promising Ushna Suhail, caused a major upset in the East Africa International junior tennis circuit, crushing seven seed South African Jessica Lang in straight sets 6-0-6-3 to reach quarter-finals on Thursday at Kigali.According to information available here, Ushna from Lahore exhibited high quality tennis with a verity to shots and vast reach to all parts of the court en route to a sensational upset victory, sending a note of warning to top players of the event.

Burden wins World Snooker title

KARACHI, Nov. 26 (APP):- Alfie Burden of England won the IBSF World Snooker Championship as he overpowered Igor Figueiredo of Brazil 10-8 after an exciting final in Hyderabad Deccan (India) on Wednesday evening.According to a message received here on Thursday, Burden crafted the breaks of 78 and 103 while recording 59-31, 78-50, 66-01, 0-98, 53-06, 65-102, 81-32, 01-89, 97-33, 19-81, 47-56, 94-0, 69-58, 107-28, 39-49, 60-15, 51-67, 82-26 triumph after a marathon final.

Umar - the second Pakistani to score ton on foreign land on debut

ISLAMABAD, Nov 26 (APP): Umar Akmal, the younger brother of Pakistan wicketkeeper and vice captain Kamran Akmal became the second Pakistani to score a ton in his maiden test match on a foreign land when he hit scintillating 129 off 160 balls against New Zealand on Thursday.Prior to him Fawad Alam had hit a century against Sri Lanka, a few months ago. Overall, he is eighty-third batsman of the world and 12th Pakistani to get that grace.

National level road cycling race

LAHORE,Nov 25 (APP)- Under the programme of Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) for promotion of cycling in the country, a national level Road Cycle Race is being organized tomorrow, Thursday, from Abbotabad to Nathiagali.The race is being organised in collaboration with NWFP Cycling Association. “ This is a new cycling event and all the affiliated Units of PCF including all the four provinces and departmental organizations are participating in the same”,said a spokesman of PCF here on Wednesday.

Col Fateh Sher Memorial cricket tournament

LAHORE,Nov 25 (APP)- Lahore’s top sixteen clubs will feature in Col Fateh Sher Khan Memorial cricket tournament being played here from December 23 at Cricket centre ground Model Town and four other venues.The month-long event which ends on January 23 next year is a regular annual feature and a way to promote club cricket,said organising secretary, Sheikh Khurram here on Wednesday.He said the participating teams will be divided into four pools,A,B,C and D and they will be playing on knock out basis.
