Electric buses: Rs 295m approved for bus sheds, stops in Multan

MULTAN, Nov 03 (APP):A Divisional Development Working Party (DDWP) meeting was held on Monday, chaired by Commissioner Multan Amir Kareem Khan, during which several key infrastructure projects were approved, totaling Rs 295.26 million. These initiatives aim to support the operation of environment-friendly electric buses and enhance urban development across the region.
The meeting approved Rs 188.88 million for the construction of bus sheds for electric buses throughout the district, with an additional Rs 106.38 million allocated for the establishment of bus stops within the municipal limits of Multan city.
Furthermore, a Rs 140.5 million scheme for the renovation of Allad Daad Bazaar in Jahanian, district Khanewal, was also given the green light. In addition, Rs 150 million were approved for the rehabilitation and renovation of key markets in Vehari, including the Bangles Market (Choori Bazaar), Gal Chowk, and Rail Bazaar.
Commissioner Khan emphasized the importance of executing these schemes in a transparent manner, incorporating modern designs and 3-D models while ensuring high-quality work and materials. He reiterated that the projects reflect the commitment of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to upgrading civic facilities in both rural and urban areas.
Deputy Commissioner Multan Waseem Hamid Sindhu and other officials attended the meeting, while District Commissioners from other areas joined virtually.
