LAHORE, Oct 20 (APP): Director General Sports Punjab, Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman has approved the travel expenditures for chess champion Mehmood Lodhi for his participation in 7th Asian Senior Chess Championship scheduled to be held in Mandalay, Myanmar from October 26 to November 5.
Lodhi who will defend the title in Myanmar, had a meeting with Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman here on Thursday and highlighted his financial hardship to take part in the Asian premier chess activity.
DG SBP said chess champion Lodhi is an asset of the country and SBP will provide every possible facility to him so that he can earn more laurels for the country.
He expressed best wishes for Lodhi. “The title winners in every game are our national heroes and we are proud of them,” he added.
Lodhi expressed his gratitude to DG SPB for extending financial help.
“The way SBP is offering assistance to players, it is commendable and it will encourage the national sportsmen to win more international titles for the country in near future,” he said.
