ISLAMABAD, Jun 1 (APP): Finance Minister, Senator
Muhammad Ishaq Dar said Wednesday that the government is considering to provide relief to farmers in Urea prices.
The minister urged fertilizer industry to contribute to
this end in larger national interest.

Chairing a meeting to take stock of Urea prices in the
country, the federal minister impressed upon the Urea Industry to reduce their prices in line with the reduction in price of imported Urea.

The meeting discussed measures aimed at reduction in
Urea prices in line with instructions given by the Prime
Minister, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

The minister said that the price reduction will increase
off take of Urea in the country, leading to enhancement in
farm productivity and higher growth of agricultural sector.

The minister highlighted the challenges faced by
agricultural sector, particularly small farmers in the context
of decline in international commodity prices and higher cost
of production.

Minister for National Food Security and Research, Sikandar
Hayat Khan Bosan, Secretaries of Ministries concerned, senior officials of provincial agriculture departments and senior executives of fertilizer industry.
