ISLAMABAD, Mar 25 (APP):President Dr. Arif Alvi on Monday said as the Constitution provided the protection to the rights of children, the government would take all possible measures for elimination of child labour from the country.
Addressing the launching ceremony of National Survey on Child Labour, he said the survey about child labour was being launched after 23 years.
The President said that since education and health were the basic issues, facing country, such surveys helped the government in setting its priorities.
He said it was a wrong impression that child labour was part of Pakistani culture.
The President urged the people to treat child employees well and instead of forcing for work also make arrangement for their education.
He said that the parents should also educate their children about harassment, and explain them how they could save them from such an abuse.
The President also urged media to create awareness about child labour, adding, without educating the new generation, the dream of a new Pakistan could not be realized and turned into a reality.
