CM distributes cheques among farmers

LAHORE, Nov 9 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad
Shehbaz Sharif visited Narowal and Sheikhupura on Monday and
distributed cheques among the small farmers under the Kissan
Package.
Addressing the ceremonies held in connection with
distribution of financial help to cultivators in Narowal and
Sheikhpura, the Chief Minister said that the economy of the
country could not strengthen without the promotion of
agriculture, says a handout issued here.
He also inspected the payment centers set up for small
farmers and monitored the process of distribution of relief
amount.
He said that prosperity of farmers was the prosperity of
Pakistan and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had given
historic Kissan Package for the development of agriculture
and prosperity of cultivators.
He said that a sum of Rs 40 billion had been allocated
in Punjab for the implementation of Kissan package.
Shehbaz Sharif said that subsidy of Rs 500 had been
given under Kissan package on each bag of fertilizer.
He said that financial assistance was being given to
small cultivators of cotton and rice at the rate of Rs 5000
per acre.
Shehbaz Sharif said that transparency would be maintained
at any cost in the payment of financial assistance to small
farmers under the package and other welfare programmes, and
stern action would be taken against the officers who failed in
this regard.
He said that Imran Khan tried to stop Kissan package as
he had no interest in the welfare of poor cultivators adding
that in view of inflation at international level regarding
agri items, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif announced
the historic Kissan package.
He further said that mettled roads were being constructed
in villages at a cost of Rs 50 billion under Khadim-e-Punjab
Rural Roads programme.
The Chief Minister on this occasion announced provision
of potable water in Sheikhupura within a year.
