CJP refuses to attend global conference in India

ISLAMABAD, Sept 30 (APP): Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali Friday refused to attend a global conference scheduled to be held in Indian from October 21-23 saying that in the present conditions he could not attend the meeting.

According to sources, a letter has been sent to Chief Justice of Indian Supreme Court in this regard.

The Chief Justice was invited by his Indian counterpart to attend the conference on “A national Initiative Towards Strengthening Arbitration and Enforcement” in India.

Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Gautam Bambawale had personally extended the invitation to Chief Justice Jamali.

The refusal to participate in the conference comes as tensions between the Pakistan and India mounted on Thursday after a small arms fire exchange between Pakistani and Indian troops along the Line of Control (LoC).
