CHITRAL, Sept 7 (APP): Member National Assembly from Chitral, Shahzada Iftikharuddin Khan said on Wednesday that Chitral has made great progress during the governments of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the credit for gigantic Lawari Tunnel Project.
Addressing a big public gathering to welcome Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif upon his arrival at Chitral today, Iftikharuddin Khan said projects worth Rs60 billion launched by PMLN government was underway in Chitral referring to Dir-Chitral highway, Lawari Tunnel, 108MW Goalen Goal Hydropower Project and Chesman Shandor Road that after completion would change the destiny of people here.
He said people of Chitral were very close to the heart of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as he was the only Prime Minister who visited Chitral for record four times. Whether it was earthquake or flood situation or any other natural calamity, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif extended complete support to the people of Chitral and personally supervised relief operations. He said today’s Pakistan’s was far better than 2013 Pakistan.
“Though I was elected MNA on the ticket of All Pakistan Muslim League, PM Nawaz Sharif extended full support to me for development of Chitral,” he said.
The MNA said previously the annual development fund for Lawari Tunnel Chitral was Rs750 million which was very minimal keeping in view the magnitude of the work.
He said this issue was taken up with PMLN government and the funds were raised to Rs six billion per year that helped expedite pace of work on this project.
He said CPEC was a game changer project that would benefit Chitral with construction of link roads. PM Nawaz Sharif has brought a real and positive change in Chitral, he added.
