CDA tape ball cricket tournament kicks off

ISLAMABAD, June 12 (APP): Capital Development Authority (CDA)
on Sunday kicked off its six-day Margalla Festival All Pakistan
Tape Ball Cricket Tournament 2016 here at G-9 Markaz Cricket Ground.

Prime Minister’s Advisor Barrister Zafer Ullah was the chief
guest at the inaugural ceremony, which was attended by Member
Environment CDA Sanaullah Aman, National Cricketer
Rana Naveed-ul-Hassan, President Tennis Cricket Ball Federation of
Pakistan Malik Maherban Ali, fan of Pakistan Cricket Chacha
Cricket, players of different teams contesting in the tournament and
a large number of people from twin cities.

Barrister Zafer Ullah appreciated the efforts of the CDA for
engaging the youth in playgrounds.

He said that such healthy activities would not only help boost
talent of youth but also provide quality entertainment to
the residents of the city. He appreciated the CDA management for
organizing the tournament on such a large scale.

On this occasion Member Environment Sanaullah Aman said that
the CDA had always provided healthy recreational opportunities to
the residents of the city. He said that main theme behind organizing
the Margalla Festival 2016 was to provide quality recreational
opportunities in the city.

He said a number of sports and cultural programmes had planned
in Margalla Festival 2016 which included sports competitions as well
as cultural and other entertainment activities.

During the first day of the tournament, four matches were
played. Muhammadi Supreme Club won the opening match of the
tournament by beating Young Brothers Club while Netcom won the
second match by beating Rizwan Eleven.

Similarly, Hawks Club and CDA Shaheens won their matches by
beating their opponents in remaining two matches.

The tournament is being played on knock out basis. Forty teams
from different parts of the country are participating in six day
tournament. Nine matches will be played on the second day of the
tournament.
