APA is doing historic job for coming generations


ISLAMABAD, July 27 (APP): Senators from both sides of the aisle on Wednesday warmly welcomed members of Asian Parliamentary Association (APA) in the House and said that the APA was doing a historic job for the coming generations.

Members of the APA were attending a two-day meeting of Standing Committee on economic and sustainable development Affairs of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) which began here.

The meeting was hosted by the Senate of Pakistan.
Welcoming the guests, Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafar ul Haq said Asia had had the potential and leadership that could contribute for development of Asia.

He said there was a realization that next century would be of Asia, adding that the APA was doing a historic job for the coming generations.

He said the strength of Asia was its diversity and with diversity comes the unity.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the destiny of Asia would now be determined by Asia itself and not by the West.

He said the APA in different parts of Asia would give its proposals for Asia integrated market.

He urged the member countries to move forward for achieving the goal of Asian Parliament that is “Asian Integration”.

Leader of the Opposition in Senate Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, welcoming the APA delegation said consciousness of Asia was need of the time. He said the 21st century would be century of Asia.

He urged the member states of APA to come forward and play their vital role for Asia integration.
