7.7 mln people to be brought into social safety network: Marvi Memon

ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP): Chairperson Banazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon Thursday informed Senate Standing Committee on Finance that 7.7 million people would be brought to social safety network.
At present 5.3 million people are benefitting from the BISP, she added.
Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue meeting was held here on Thursday at the Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandviwala.
While briefing the committe, Chairman BISP, Marvi Memon said through the BISP,”We are supporting the women and children for their school fee and enrollment in school.
She said the BISP plays huge role for poverty alleviation and management through different schemes for facilitating the people in remote areas.
A Official from Accountant General Pakistan Revenues (AGPR), while briefing the committee regarding the ghost pensioners said that, there is no ghost pensioners in 20249 gazetted pensioners record.
He said in total 32,900 pensioner, non gazetted pensioner record also need to check for ensuring transparency in record.
Briefing the committee, Director General (DG) National Saving, Zafar Masud said feasibility report on the special schemes for the disabled and handicapped person was in process and soon to be presented in committee for implementation.
He added CDNS to introduce automated system for replacing old manual system, where back data evaluation was also in process.
Senator Mohsin Aziz, Mohsin Khan Leghari, Ilyas Ahmad Bilour, Kamil Ali Agha and official of different Miniseries attended that meeting.
