Senate resolution pays tribute to unsung heroes of democracy

ISLAMABAD, Sep 7 (APP): Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Wednesday said 4380 acres of land had been purchased for the construction of Gawadar Airport.

Answering a question in the Upper House of the Parliament, he said Chinese President had expressed his desire to issue the grant for the construction of the following airport.

He said it was agreed that construction of New Gwadar Int’l Airport (NGIA) will be funded through 100% grant instead of soft loan as decided earlier by Chinese side.

Feasibility report, master plan, biding documents and revised PC I of NGIA had been provided to MOFCOM through EAD on 9th September, 2015, he added.

The minister said a delegation of Shanghai Civil Aviation New Era Design & Research Company Limited conducted the ‘Feasibility Study of NGIA Project Execution’ from 7th March 2016 to 23rd March 2016 at Gwadar.

He said Chinese Technical Team Report was received in June, 2016 and reservations and observations of CAA had been conveyed to the Chinese side.

Further coordination was being made for finalization of the agreed minutes of the report, which contains the scope of the project.

He said the project would be completed within the three year after its commencement.
