QUETTA, Mar 17 (APP):At least four passengers died and 12 others were injured as five bogeys of Quetta-bound Jaffar Express derailed following a blast at the rail track in Dera Murad Jamali.
The incident took place in Rabi Canal area of Dera Murad Jamali which caused death of Noor Bano and her daughter Saadia Bibi, Tahir and Shahzad Khan.
The injured included Muhammad Javed, Gulab Khan, Ali Asghar, Suleman Shah, Deedar Ali Shah, Saira Bibi and others.
The victims hailed from different areas of Punjab and Balochistan including Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Quetta and Dera Allah Yar.
Soon after the incident, the rescue teams reached the site and rushed the bodies and injured to the Dera Murad Jamali hospital.
After first aid, the injured were referred to the hospitals in Larkana and Sukkur. The dead bodies were transported to their respective native areas
According to Deputy Inspector General Police Munir Zia, search for the blast perpetrators had been launched.
As per the bomb disposal squad, the blast was carried out through a remote controlled device using around 10 kg explosive material. The blast also damaged a 255 feet patch of the railway track.
Following the incident, Provincial Education Advisor Haji Muhammad Khan, DIG Munir Zia and Deputy Commissioner Nasirabad Qurban Ali Magsi reached the hospital and inquired after the injured people. They also assured all possible assistance to the families of the deceased.
Later, the district administration arranged public transport for the passengers of Jaffar Express and other trains affected due to the disruption in railway traffic, to reach their destinations.
