MIRPUR (AJK), Oct 11 (APP): At least 21 persons were injured, when a bus carrying pilgrims skidded off the road and plunged into a deep ravine while negotiating a sharp turn on Ban Khurma Road in Mirpur city Monday night.
City Inspector Ch. Ansar told APP that the inmates of the ill
fated bus belonged to various parts of Punjab mostly Gujranawala.
The bus was on way to Panaag Sharif in Kotli district via
Mirpur from Chachiyan after the pilgrimage at the mausoleum of Baba Peera Shah Ghazi at Khari Shareef.
The bus driver lost control due to over speeding while
negotiating a sharp turn at high steep near Ban Khurama locality. As a result of which, it fell into deep ravine injuring over 21 of its occupants.
The injured were immediately shifted to Mirpur Divisional
Headquarter Hospital where the condition of nine of them are stated to be critical.
Besides Deputy Commissioner Ansar Yaqoob, the rescuers
including police and local administration rushed the scene of accident and shifted the injured to the hospital.
Police have booked the bus driver and further investigations
are in progress.
