150 MoUs signed in seminar on Business Opportunities in Punjab:CM

LAHORE, Nov 7 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad
Shehbaz Sharif has said it is a great opportunity to build
economic ties with Turkey and China which will lead to a
tremendous economic cooperation between Pakistan, China and
Turkey.
He said this while addressing the last day of the
international seminar on “Business Opportunities in
Punjab” at a local hotel on Saturday.
He said that, during a two-day international seminar,
over 150 agreements and MoUs had been signed by investment
companies of China and Turkey between the Punjab government
and investors in the fields of transport, infrastructure,
industrial estate development, energy, housing and
mines & minerals and other sectors.
He vowed that no stone will be left unturned to give
practical shape to these agreements.
He said today was historic occasion during
which over 150 MoUs and agreements had been signed with
Chinese and Turkish investment companies.
He said China and Turkey had been extending
wholehearted cooperation to various development sectors in
Pakistan during the last many decades while this economic
cooperation was increasing with the passage of time.
The chief minister said with the implementation of these
agreements,close economic ties between Pakistani businessmen
and Chinese and Turkish investors would further strengthen.
He said it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction
that such a huge number of Chinese and Turkish investors had
decided to invest in Punjab.
Shehbaz Sharif said Turkey and China had shown
great trust in the leadership of the PML-N government, people
of Pakistan and a transparent mechanism of the government and
added that such opportunities came rarely which should be
utilized in a way to have maximum benefits.
The CM said the projects of China Pakistan
Economic Corridor (CPEC) were being speedily implemented,
proving the fact that the CPEC was a great gift of China for the
people of Pakistan.
He said Pakistan was facing various challenges
including terrorism and electricity loadshedding, and it was
essential for progress and prosperity to overcome these
problems.
He said: “The day is not far when with the grace of
Almighty Allah our sincere efforts will prove to be highly
fruitful.”
As many as 250 delegates from China, Turkey and other
countries visited Pakistan was a great proof of their trust
in Pakistan for doing business, he added.
He said elimination of energy crisis was highly
essential in order to ensure progress of industry and
agriculture in the country besides eliminating unemployment
and reducing poverty from the country.
The chief minister said these agreements and MoUs would
prove to be a historic trend-setting step which would show
to the world that business conditions in Pakistan were getting
better with the passage of time.
He thanked Chinese and Turkish investors for expressing
such powerful trust on Pakistan’s destiny and economy.
Provincial Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha said
the objective of the seminar was to showcase the tremendous
potential for business in Punjab.
She said during the international seminar serious
business interactions were held.
Pakistan offered business friendly policies, she said and
adding that MoUs and investment agreements were signed in
various sectors.
Addressing on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to
Pakistan Sun Weidong congratulated the chief minister and
people of Punjab over successful holding international seminar on
“Business Opportunities in Punjab”.
He said all development projects being envisioned by the
CPEC were being completed expeditiously.
“I wish that more Chinese investors and companies invest
in Pakistan because great business opportunities exist in
Pakistan and Punjab”, he added.
He said economic relations between China and
Pakistan would further strengthen the friendly relations
existing between the two countries.
Sun Weidong said they saw a bright future of
development in Pakistan especially in Punjab.
He hoped that all projects under the China Pakistan
Economic Corridor (CPEC) would complete in quick and
a transparent manner.
At the end of the concluding session of the seminar,
mutual agreements and MoUs between Chinese and Turkish
companies and the Punjab government were signed.
